The first wave has been confirmed and by now we certainly know which models will be released.
So far the miniature range contains a lot of interesting kits which I'm eager to get my hands on, as they have lots of spare bitz to do conversions. For now I'll be reviewing some of the kits which I'm going to purchase and what these kits can offer. Let's go!
Raptors/ Warp Talons
A really amazing kit and I surely like it. This kit enables you to either build 5 Raptors or 5 Warp Talons. After you're done you'll surely have spare bitz. The question will be: " which parts can I expect to have as bitz? "
The nessecary parts to make both options
- Torso and legs ( this is actually 1 piece and it isn't poseable as far as I can see)
- Shoulders
- Jump Pack
Raptor parts
- 5 sets of CC weapon and boltpistol
- 1 Meltagun ( and possibly 1 Flamer)
- 1 Plasma Gun
- 5 pair of regular toes
- 5 Raptor heads
Warp Talons parts
- 5 sets of Vorpal Claws/ Lightning Claws
- 5 Warp Talon heads
- 5 pair of Jump pack wings
- 5 pair of blades as toes
So whatever unit you choose to build you'll have parts left from the other. if you intend to build Warp Talons you certainly have weapons left to upgrade your regular infantry units, not to mention the special weapons it has.
If you intend to build Raptors you'll have 5 pairs of Vorpal/Lightning Claws. The most notable of these claws is 2 of them can be converted to regular Power Fists. This is pretty nice since the arm has some Chaos ornaments. Just clip/trim the blades and you have 4 shiny new Power Fists ( see picture below). The remaining claws can be used on Chosen squads. The remaining heads are actually, imo, suited to use for Night Lords army.
Overall, this kit is quite a bang for your buck. I will probably get myself 4 of these at least.
Forgefiend/ Mauler Fiend
This is quite an interesting kit as you can make either the Forgefiend or the Mauler Fiend. The Forgefiend can be equipped with either 3 Plasma/Ectoplasm Cannons or with dual Butcher/Hades Autocannons. In my opinion the dual Butcher/Hades Autocannon model looks terrible. As if they just sticked 2 guns at the sides of some random animal. I hope there are more bitz in there to allow further conversions.
Anyways let's see the kit parts of each varient:
Forgefiend (Butcher/Hades Autocannons)
- 2 Butcher/Hades Autocannons)
- 2 front legs
- 1 beast head
Forgefiend (3 Plasma/Ectoplasm Cannons)
- 3 Plasma/Ectoplasm Cannons, 1 being as it's head)
- 2 front legs
Mauler Fiend
- 1 beast head
- 2 front Claws
Either you make a Forgefiend or a Mauler Fiend, you will have major bitz left. Especially the front claws and legs are the most interesting parts. I certainly will use this to kitbash a whole new model, as I have a few new ideas.
I most likely will get 3 of these kits and using the remaining parts to build 2 other models.
Stay tuned for more!
